Nureyev II Fonteyn

I have started watching Margot on the BBC IPlayer. A drama about Dame Margot Fonteyn ( a wonderful Anne-Marie Duff) and Rudolf Nureyev played by Dutch actor Michiel Huisman. ( Whose career I am following with great interest, as he develops himself internationally – he was also in the Young Victoria. Not bad for a man who started as a soap actor!)

This is the second time I am writing about Nureyev, the first time was about two years ago. I am not sure why I am attracted to the man, whether it is his striking looks or the way he lived life or both. On my never ending search for happiness ( isn’t that called life?) I admire the man who defected from the USSR to live free. The choices and the sacrifices he made, his temperament and his impulses.

Margot portrays the perfect partnership of two people connected through passion and mutual adoration. Whatever their relationship might have been, it at the very least was one of pure beauty. Surely, that is something to strive for…
